Combined Lab and X-Ray Technicians conduct routine medical laboratory tests, perform general radiography and electrocardiograms, and set up, clean and maintain related equipment.

What Do Combined Lab and X-Ray Technicians Do?

• Collect, prepare and analyze patient samples
• Explain x-ray procedures to patients and answer questions
• Monitor patients
• Correctly position patients and equipment
• Operate diagnostic imaging equipment to produce quality images that assist in diagnosis
• Follow radiation protection practices, regulations and philosophy to reduce risk to patients, staff and visitors
• Perform electrocardiograms and determine if ECG tracings are technically accurate
• Use computer programs to operate and report results from laboratory, x-ray and ECG equipment
• Perform administrative and clerical duties
• Insure that equipment and instruments are working properly and maintain equipment
