Automotive Service Technicians diagnose, service, repair and replace all parts of automobiles, light trucks and light buses.
What do Automotive Service Technicians do on the job?
• Inspect motors in operation, road test motor vehicles, and test automotive systems and components using computerized diagnostic and other testing devices
• Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems using hand tools and other specialized automotive repair equipment
• Advise customers on work performed, general vehicle conditions and future repair requirements
• Dismantle faulty assemblies and repair or replace worn or damaged parts

o Certificate Program
o Require: Grade 12
o Valid driver's license is a requirement
o Length: 36 weeks
• Saskatchewan Apprenticeship – Automotive Service Technician
o Completed Grade 12
o Must be working in the trade and under the supervision of a certified journeyperson
o Length: 4 years including 1,800 hours of technical training and on-the-job training
